Specializing in bold, flavorful dishes, this Chinese noodle and takeaway restaurant excels at delivering a true Sichuan experience, where every bite is layered with spice, aroma, and tradition.
The dining experience at Mian revolves around an enticing menu that showcases some of the most beloved flavors from Chengdu and beyond. The House Beef Noodles are a standout, featuring tender beef bathed in a spicy, homemade broth that awakens the senses with its perfect balance of chili heat and umami depth. For adventurous eaters, the Piquant Intestine Noodles are a daring specialty, bursting with intense garlic and chili flavors that challenge and reward your palate.
Dumpling lovers will find themselves in heaven with options like the House Pork Dumplings and the Chilli Oil Chaoshou, which are richly seasoned and packed with savory juices that make each bite addictive. Mian's culinary craftsmanship shines through in specialties such as their Chengdu Zhajiang Noodles, which present an authentic twist to the well-known Beijing style, and the Tomato Beef Stew Noodles, where tender chunks of beef swim in a rich, flavorful tomato broth that is deeply satisfying. The House Pancake Beef Rolls add a unique touch, introducing unexpected textures and vibrant notes with purple cabbage lending a refreshing crunch.
The ambiance inside Mian is quietly inviting — a simple, unpretentious setting that allows the food to take center stage. Despite the modest decor, walls adorned with noodle-inspired art add a modern, cultural flair that complements the restaurant’s bold dishes. Guests appreciate the attentive, quick service that ensures a seamless dining experience whether stopping in for a casual lunch or a comforting dinner.
Regulars rave about the perfect balance of spice—loud and assertive, but never overwhelming—and the exceptional quality of meat and noodles. The well-pickled cucumbers are frequently highlighted as a refreshing palate cleanser amidst the fiery courses, showcasing the kitchen’s thoughtfulness in constructing a harmonious meal. Mian also offers a BYOB option, making it easy to enjoy your favorite beverages alongside their rich, vibrant dishes, with convenient parking nearby.
Whether you’re craving the addictive, spicy allure of Sichuan peppercorns or the soothing warmth of slow-cooked beef noodles, Mian promises an authentic and fulfilling culinary journey. This is a must-visit for noodle enthusiasts and those seeking a genuine taste of China's diverse flavors right here in Honolulu.
The food was acceptable, although the flavours are tasty and slightly spicy (for the House Beef Noodles). The rolled pancakes with beef slices were interestingly nice, had purple cabbage in it (a first seeing vegetable apart from cucumber slices in such dish). Ambience of the place was rather quiet and unassuming, there were no other patrons during the lunch time except for some people who came to do takeouts instead.
I crave this place at least once a week. The food is incredible. The service is fast and attentive. I dream about the mapo tofu. The dumplings are so flavorful and rich. The cucumbers are pickled perfectly and cool your mouth between bites. The interior is well light with cool noodle based art on the wall. Either get valet parking from the car elevator on site or park on the street by Walmart. Payment and ordering is all through your phone. Seriously, check this place out. It’s one of my favorite places in all of Oahu.
Great noodle spot with spicy house beef noodles. Lots of chili oil flavor. The meat itself was good and its easy to order extra noodles. Appetizers were good, I recommend the chicken.
My partner and I really enjoyed the food at Mian. The noodles and the dumplings were very flavorful. I did get some flavor fatigue from the strong flavor and the tomato & beef stew broth but if you want an authentic Chinese noodle, give this place go. The beef stew was so soft. The spice level was very much to my liking. Will definitely be bringing my parents here when they visit the island.
Good Sichuan noodle and dumpling place. Pretty authentic style spice and peppercorns (麻辣), reasonable price, and can BYOB from Walmart across the street. Still, it lacked depth of flavor somehow. It's on par with Chengdu Taste as 2 of the best 3 Sichuan on island that I know of.
This was seriously the best food after a chilly night surf. I was craving Sichuan noodles all night and was so excited to pop in for dinner. The QR ordering system is genius - super easy and all phone orders at the same table get grouped together. Each order is clearly customizable and you can choose to pay now or later, online or through their staff. The food came out SUPER fast and the noodles and broth properly piping hot! I loved the Mala intestine sweet potato noodles - a spicy, tingly, and tart broth paired with chewy noodles and perfectly cooked intestine. The beef wrap was also delicious. The large beef noodles also came with a free additional order of wheat noodles which was nice. The only thing I wouldn't reorder this time was the braised pork which was less note worthy than the rest, but plenty of things on the menu are enticing for next time, like their dumplings, fried rice cakes, and dry noodles!
Food was authentic and Delicious although definitely a bit spicier than I’m used to. Highly recommend.
Wontons were cooked perfectly, the sauce had a good kick and a hint of sweetness to it. The best wontons I had on the island. The wrapper was not too thick and the filling was very very juicy. Chengdu Zhajiang Noodle was delicious but maybe because we got it for takeout the noodle was cooked a little past aldente. Sauce, again, was delicious. The portion of the noodle was huge. Beef pancake roll was tasty and the bread was flaky and good. We ordered at 11 and food was ready by 11:20. Amazing service! Edit after eating in: everything was AMAZING.
